Your tastes are unique... my style is my own

hey there

I recently read a quote from Andrew Laszlo (famous cinematographer of the 80's and 90's) about his work, his life and how he has come to understand the relationship between the two.

He says simply, "some of it happens from experience... some of it happens from inspiration... and some of it just happens".

You can only plan so much, learn so much... and at the end of the day, sometimes all you need is a bit of properly placed luck

I like to believe I confidently employ all three into my work and life.  My photographs are more editorial based in their aesthetic, while still holding true to my candid approach in the look and feel... you have to feel your photos or what's the point?

Oh, one more thing that should populate this  "about me" section... according to my babe of a wife, I'm a huge people pleaser.

So, prepare to be pleased.

Photography for me is not a job... I am not a vendor...I am the person in the room with you, quietly observing the unspoken transmission of courage, love & anticipation your best friend radiates with a simple glance in
your direction.

Your Dad walks the property alone, reminiscing the years you shared leading up to this day. He rubs his neck and stares out across the ceremony site, quietly and confidently excited within himself.  All the while I'm there, silently stalking for a single image to add into the narrative of the day.

All of YOUR people, in one place, partying their butts off. You're in the middle of the dance floor engulfed in it all... a quick camera flash, I have what I need. You never saw me.

When you look through your photos after a glass or three of wine on your 30th anniversary, the images still resonate as loudly as the first time you saw them. I want to create a sense of timelessness... no trends, no peculiar edits; true to life you.

With all of this said, your day needs to be FUN dammit! Yes I will absolutely capture the raw, hands off approach photographs that actually make you feel something. I will help foster an air of relaxed playfulness that is desperately needed to create the type of images that hopefully brought you here.

More than anything, we will make art, DIFFERENT from everything else. Yours.

Instead of overloading you with endless paragraphs. I've decided to breakup the important bits into the three other sections you see over there.
Navigate as you please.

I feel like it's all too easy for one to get caught within an echo chamber of wedding ideas & styles with the amount of content available to us 24/7. I choose to not focus on what's popular or what I've viewed... but instead seek out the genuinely unique moments and what I personally find to be beautiful.
My eyes are always scanning the room, my brain is remembering what dynamic a certain person has with someone else so I can be ready to capture a REAL exchange. I also like to think I have a gift of being in the right place at the right time.
I also have a bit of dry humor scattered throughout my work.  Weddings can be so serious at times... I want to show that yes, but I also need to show you the lighter side you might have missed.
Sure I want to make my people look absolutely fantastic and drop dead gorgeous... but when viewing your entire wedding set, if I haven't made you smile and laugh more than a handful of times, then I've missed my mark.

The first time I picked up a camera was right after graduating college... I got the bug to leave the country which led to a five month adventure living in the Atacama Desert in Northern Chile.  With a shiny new camera in hand I couldn't stop taking pictures. Immediately it hooked me, taking photos of everything and everyone.
It wasn't until 2012 when I was talked into shooting my first wedding in the Bahamas (talked into, yeah right)... since then I have never looked back.
Wedding days can be so infinitely complex in emotions and character, that the responsibility of documenting this day is one I take very seriously. This humbles me to my core that such awesome couples continually put their trust in me/my taste/my aesthetic/my eye to forever-capture the one day you never want to forget...

I get to do what I love and you get to relive YOUR love.

Sooo, why weddings?

What's your mind like?

For me, it's quality over quantity.
Some photographers might try to sell you on the fact that all of their packages include this "extra perk", to me, all that means is there is one more person with a camera making the photographer's footprint larger.  90% of my wedding work is me alone... quiet, stealthy, unobtrusive, you forget I'm there.

Are 2nd photographers a bad thing, heck no. I pay my second's very well because the quality of work they produce rivals my own, so including one will increase the package price, sure.  But if you two are getting ready far apart from one another... or your venue has a really unique layout where I can place someone for a really cool angle, then I would definitely recommend having someone join me.

Again, is it a must have? No way.  Is it a fun creative addition? For sure.

There's two schools of thought when deciding to have one. Pro: they open up a bunch of free time after the ceremony for you both to relax and enjoy all your company that has traveled to celebrate with you. It's also a great time to see one another in peace and quiet; guests usually have not arrived by the time you have a first look. Get those butterflies out!
Con: it can turn into quiet the production while staging this moment... not all the time, but sometimes.  It's one more item on the "to-do" list of the day.

I have my own method of first looks that keep it super casual, no big production... just you and your love melting into one another.  There's not enough room to explain here, I'll happily talk your ear off explaining my idea tailored to your own wedding plans.

why is everyone hyped on 1st looks?

is it necessary to have a 2nd shooter join?

Piggybacking off of the previous question, I mentioned how traveling to new locations keeps my eye and photography fresh and always evolving.

This might be the top question I get asked from out-of-state couples.  Simply put, a brand new venue is a blank canvas... a place where I bring in new ideas, not old recycled poses in the same spot you see over and over again.

I always arrive to the destination two days ahead of the wedding to scout the venue and surrounding area for the best light and most amazing views.

I got you.

You better believe it is!
Roughly 75% of my weddings require me to fly to the destination and I freakin love it!

Meeting so many new people all over the country and the world has opened my eyes to really amazing family dynamics.  With the interplay of culture and customs changing from region to region, it keeps me fresh and on my toes, ready for anything.

our wedding is outside of california, is that ok?

you've never seen our venue, how do you cope?

Well hot damn!
If you have not already sent me an inquiry form please scroll down one page or click HERE to say hey and to make sure I have your date available!

From there, we'll message a few times to make sure we're a great fit for one another.

Once our vibes align and you give me the green light, I'll send over an electronic wedding services contract for you both to initial and e-sign.  I require a 50% retainer to fully lock me in for the wedding festivities and then BAM I'm yours!!

Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Believe me, you turn my camera around in my direction and I'll slap it out of your hands.  Well that's harsh, I might just dive behind the nearest bush... but yeah I feel you.

I promise this.  I will never pose you awkwardly, staring straight in to the lens.

Instead we will move organically in and out of certain motions to get some REAL photos - not what you looked like on your wedding day... but rather what you felt like on your wedding day.

Will we get some really epic hero shots sure... but for the most part, I want to capture you two interacting.  I'll be the director, not a creep with a camera.

"Where do I begin...My husband and I are now huge Chris Glenn fans. Is it weird to say I want him to document my whole life? I believe it was divine intervention that linked the Cali dude to this Miami girl and he felt like family the moment we met. His work is incredible, more on that later, but what really sets him apart from ALL other vendors is his cool vibes, easy professionalism and incredible business ethic. He is timely, which for a bride like me, stuck out like a big shiny diamond. He is goofy, my husband and I cracked jokes with him the entire time. And overall just makes you feel comfortable and calm in the midst of a millions things. We did basically four shoots together: wedding, early morning "for his eyes only" shoot, day-after brunch, and day-after casual vibes (he worked his ass off with ease and a smile the entire time. My guests loved his charm too!). The number of "good ones" from the delivered set was so overwhelming I am still having a hard time deciding which ones to print (but he even gave suggestions on that too.) Overall, his talent speaks for itself. You will be beyond pleased to have those beautiful memories captured by him but lucky if you get to spend your special day with such a great guy. Stop looking.
Go with Glenn."

"...As you search for a wedding photographer, you will inevitably start wondering how every couple you see looks perfect and you begin to wonder if your pictures could ever look that good (or maybe that was just me?!)… but if you pick Chris, you will have nothing to worry about it! Through his fun personality, he puts all of your nerves at ease and quite honestly makes you look and feel like the boss you are. From beginning to end, Chris was a breeze to work with. He is constantly pushing the bounds of creativity while still staying true to the couple and who they are. I have nothing but positive things to say about him and his work. Your photographer is with you more than anyone else on your wedding day and his or her photos will be with you for the rest of your life, so don’t screw it up… pick Chris to shoot your wedding"

"...BEST DECISION EVER TO BOOK CHRIS GLENN! When we started looking for wedding photographers we knew we didn't want someone that does cheesy wedding photos. Chris Glenn has a modern/edgy style with an eye for unique shots. His photos are breathtaking. He really goes out of his way to make a connection with his clients. We felt very comfortable with him and relaxed knowing he's going to do an amazing job. We did engagement pics so we could get a chance to meet Chris before the wedding. I knew once we got back our pictures that Chris was the best decision we made for our wedding. The pictures were jaw dropping gorgeous. All of our friends were shocked! They had never seen such amazing engagement pictures. Of course our wedding pics were nothing but phenomenal as well. He brings energy, excitement, and creativity to every situation. Just look at his website once and you'll know what I'm talking about."

the stuff no one really wants to talk about

recently married my babe of a wife out in the desert, afterwards we had a chance to look back and think a bit about the whole party planning process.  We paid for the festivities ourselves and the main thing I remember is the battle of sticking to our budget (trying to).  And I have to say... that dammit do I have a new found respect for what my couples are going through in planning out the festivities.  You want the best, but it adds up quick!

So I         it.  I've been there, just like          .

I personally think this newly introduced option gained popularity because it's something different from what your parents did.
